How to read staff reading in levelling | Least count of levelling staff

Levelling staff:

 Levelling staff is the instrument which is used to measure the elevation or vertical distances between the points on the ground and the line of collimation. Levelling staff is graduated. It gives reading in metric system.

least count of levelling staff is

Least Count:

The least count of leveling staff is 5mm.

Levelling staff consist small length of black and white strips, each strip having width of 5mm.

Sop with Telescopic Staff:

This staff is available in 3 lengths placed one into the other. The total Length of staff is 4m. It can be extended to its full length. The top portion is solid having length of 1.25m, central box portion is hollow having length of 1.25m and the bottom portion is hollow having length of 1.5 m.
